Peterborough Counselling Service works with therapists from different modalities which means we can find the best way to work with you. This can be discussed at your initial telephone consultation to make sure we match you with the right therapist.
All you have to do at this stage is make contact by either telephone or though the contact form and someone will get back to you to discuss your requirements. Please don’t despair if you go through to an answerphone, it might be that all of our therapists are in appointments, but someone will get back to you. There is no commitment at this stage, we just need to make sure we are the right service for you.
For couples to have space to explore their difficulties with someone who is impartial but has the experience to help you explore your differences and how they can be integrated into your relationship for you to have a better relationship.
Young people often go through experiences that they feel no-one lese will understand. They often feel embarrassed to share with close members of the family or friends. Counselling gives them the opportunity to be able to share their thoughts and feelings without shame or being judged as the therapist is trained to help them work through uncomfortable feelings with the understanding that we all go through difficult times in our lives.
Our Therapists works integratively, meaning we can employ a wide variety of therapeutic techniques according to your needs, and the nature of the problems that the client brings to therapy. This will include looking at current behaviour patterns, ways of thinking and coping, relating back to the past, looking at the way in which the client has grown up and developed, the environment the client has grown up in and the one they live in now as well as the people that the client has formed relationships with over the years.
Sometimes families go through difficult times and need help to be able to communicate the problems they are going through. A professional can help unravel the underlying issues without taking sides and help you see the differences and how they are impacting on your relationships moving forward.
Anger is a perfectly normal emotion and is there to help you recognise when things are not going right for you or you feel wronged in some way. Some people need help to manage the behaviour that is evoked when anger isn’t dealt with effectively and causes problems socially, at work or with friends and family.
