Counselling and psychotherapy for individuals, couples and families.

our therapy

Peterborough Counselling Service is a private counselling organisation helping couples, families and individuals find recovery in times of need. Our portfolio of therapists work in different modalities, offering unique approaches to counselling.

To ensure we match you with the right therapist, during your initial telephone consultation we will ask some questions. All you have to do at this stage is make contact by either telephone or through the contact form and someone will get back to you to discuss your requirements.

Please do not despair if you go through to an answerphone, it might be that all of our therapists are in appointments. As soon as someone is available we will get back to you right away. There is no commitment at this stage.

In light of Covid-19, we are offering online a phone sessions with our counsellors.

Individual Therapy

Our therapists work integratively, meaning that we employ a wide variety of therapeutic techniques, according to your needs. Our therapists consider; current behaviour patterns; ways of thinking and coping; problems relating back to the past; childhood, growth and development in their environment as well as the people that the client has formed relationships with over the years.

Young Persons Therapy

Young people often go through experiences that they feel nobody else will understand. We can sometimes feel embarrassed to share with close family members and friends, therefore keeping growing problems to ourselves. Counselling helps young people the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings without shame or judgement. Our therapists are trained to help young people work through uncomfortable emotions.

Couples Therapy

Our therapists provide a caring, non-judgemental and supportive space to help couples find a resolution to any difficulties they may be facing in their relationship. The relationships we have with a partner should provide us with balance, support and emotional wellbeing. If our personal relationships are compromised, it can have an effect on many parts of our lives. Couples therapy is for anyone in an intimate relationship as well as individual sessions to explore challenges you are facing.

Family Therapy

Sometimes families go through difficult times and need help to be able to communicate the problems they are going through. A professional can help unravel the underlying issues without taking sides and help you see the differences and how they are impacting on your relationships moving forward.

Anger Management

Anger is a perfectly normal emotion and is there to help you recognise when things are not going right for you or you feel wronged in some way. Some people need help to manage the behaviour that is evoked when anger isn’t dealt with effectively and causes problems socially, at work or with friends and family.
